Sketching Techniques for the Scientific Illustrator

Sketches are an important part of the creative process—learn to refine yours! Instructor Rick Simonson will guide participants through a step-by-step approach to get ideas on paper quickly and accurately, then refine them into a finished illustration. The workshop will use standard sketching materials and subject matter common to scientific illustration.

Supply List

This is a list of supplies and materials you should have for the workshop. Any brands are fine.

Paper - sketch book or any type of paper

Pencil - mechanical pencil or drawing pencil(s)

Eraser - plastic eraser or any other type that will remove graphite

Examples
